The Anker Brewery has made a name for itself as an innovative small
brewery in the last 15 years
and not just in the industry
The trio Wolfgang Koch, Florian Koch and Georg Fischer spent
many years working on this revolutionary invention. Wolfgang
Koch, owing to his sudden death, did not live to see the
breakthrough when it came at the end of 2005. Introduction to
market starts in December 2006/early 2007. The system is being
presented to industry experts for the first time at the Brau
trade fair from 15-17.11.2006 on the Rapak stand.

The Rieser-Weizen beers are now receiving an extra shot of yeast. The appearance is being likewise optimised.
Ankerbräu is putting some oomph into its appearance with a new,
permanent corporate design. In future, all HGVs, advertising
materials and public houses will carry the appropriate
design.

The introduction of the new bottle-washing machine reduced
freshwater consumption by 85% from 500ml to 80ml per bottle.
The industry average is around 300 ml per bottle. Energy
consumption sank by around 66%. In the future this new concept
in bottle and barrel cleaning methods will save Ankerbräu
10,000 cubic metres of drinking water, and an equal amount of
wastewater. The project, a first for Bavaria, Is being overseen
in a technical capacity by the Donauwörth water management
authorities and promoted by the government of Bavaria.
Widespread use of this new cleaning concept in Bavarian
breweries could lead to a saving of over four million m³ of
drinking and wastewater per year. The system was unveiled to
impressed industry onlookers at the international Brau trade
fair in Nuremberg. With this major investment 14.5% of
turnover coming on top of the construction of the model
gentle brewing brewhouse and the implementation of an
ecological cogeneration unit, Ankerbräu is underlining its
commitment to become one of Germany's most
environmentally-conscious breweries.

Ankerbräu is the first brewery in Germany to introduce online
labeling. Customers can order a 6-pack of Nördlinger
Premium-Pils over the Internet with their own-design label. For
this, Ankerbräu receives the highest award of the Bayerische
Brauerbund (Bavarian brewers association) and the Bayerische
Hotel- und Gaststättenverband (Bavarian hotel and public house
association): the goldene Bieridee prize. Special recognition
is given to creative ideas from individuals or groups, which
make an outstanding contribution to the attractive presentation
of the unique variety of Bavarian speciality beers.

"The Rieser Russ'n" is a mixed drink of Hefeweizen and lemonade
Completion of a new cogeneration unit. The system is not
regulated according to electricity flow, but according to heat
requirements. Peak loads are reduced at bottling and the lost
heat used to heat up the bottle washing machine.

Ankerbräu is the first brewery in Germany to bottle shandy as a ready-to-drink mixed drink.
Introduction of the 0.33 cl Gourmet Langhalsflasche (long-neck bottle) developed by Ankerbräu.
Inauguration of the new brewhouse with the energy-saving
thermal vapour compression process. Energy consumption reduced
by 75%. During the boiling process, the beer is brewed at a
gentle 100.8 °C.
